Great Cashback deals on Mobile Phone Contracts!

Mobile Phones

This is probably where people can save the most amount of money. If you don't need anymore than 500 mins. & 500 texts then Top tip: Do not spend more than £20/month on your phone. If you are, then you are throwing money away. With a little bit of research (or using Matt's Deals Alert to help) you can easily obtain a good phone with approx. 250 mins. or more plus 100 texts for less than £20 and that is before you even look at the deals around that involve cashback!

The place to go for the best deals on mobile phones always seems to be e2save or mobiles.co.uk. The reason why the line rentals are so low is because they provide an effective cost due to cashback. It still surprises me the number of people who don't like the idea of cashback. Either because they think it's a con or because they can't be bothered to send their bills back 3-4 times a year to obtain their cheque. If someone said to you "send us a letter 3 times a year and we will send you 3 cheques worth £60" most people would do it. There
is no difference with cheque backs. Believe me I have been doing it for several years now and I have always received my cheques quickly. As long as you make sure you send your bills back when they say and obviously go with a reputable company (both e2save and mobiles.co.uk are partners of the Carphone Warehouse).

For those who aren't familiar with the cashback scheme.....basically you sign up for a contract phone (most often a free phone) and pay the normal line rental every month (let's say £25/month) but they offer 12 months line rental half price. Therefore over the course of the year you will receive cheques totalling £150 (£12.50 x 12 months). However,  there are now deals out there that offer such good cashback that you can be effectively paying only £1.99 month. Don't believe me check out these great deals.

Finally remember to have a look at the in-depth guide to the Nokia N95 8GB at the bottom of this page. I've written an in-depth guide to the N95 8GB phone as I believe this phone to be more revolutionary than the iphone. Sure, the iphone looks cool and the user interface is fantastic but carry on reading below to find out why I feel the Nokia phone is the best top notch phone out there at the moment.....barring the fact that soon there will be mobiles that film HD!!!

Nokia N95 8GB

When I first read about the original Nokia N95, I was completely amazed by what this phone could do. Okay, it's not the slimmest phone around but let's remember what this phone can do.

  • Firstly, it has a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optical lens, which according to many reviews I have read have duped people into believing it was taken with a normal digital camera, but this is the benefit you get with a good lens.
  • Secondly, and this is my main reason why I like this phone......it captures DVD quality videos. I can't tell you the number of times I use to be out and would want to video my family and not have a camera to capture it and let's face it the traditional VGA videos captured on mobiles aren't really great for viewing on your TV. Which leads me to point 3
  • It has a TV-out port, which allows you to watch all your media files on a TV. This is great as more often than not if you are visiting friends or family you will have your mobile phone, so it is very easy to just show someone your latest videos you have on your phone. Perhaps it was a video you saw on the internet, you can download it onto your phone and then show it on any TV. Not as easy with your conventional cameras.
  • Fourthly, can be used as a Satnav. and Mp3 player.

These are just to name a few. Now with all this in mind Nokia then bring out the N95 8GB model. This does everything the original does but just improves it all a little bit.

  • Firstly, as the name suggests, it comes with a built in memory of 8GB.
  • Then finally a mobile phone maker listened to its customers and made the battery last far longer. This is essential if you wanted to enjoy the extra features like Satnav. or browsing the internet.
  • It has up to 3.5Mbps internet via HDSPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access), which basically means it is the new generation of 3G. It can also connect to the internet via Wifi. You can also view full webpages unlike other phones that display specially designed briefer pages.

The landscape viewing ability is also a great feature.

The only cons about the phone that I can find is that it is bigger than some of your average mobile phones weighing in at 120g, roughly 10cm long and 2cm thick. Also the 8GB version does not have a sliding lens cover like its predecessor. However, with all that said these are not good enough reasons not to get this phone in my opinion.

What always amazed me was how this phone didn't get the press coverage as the iphone. The ads for the iphone always showed such great speed in being able to read pages on the internet. Yet the truth is that in the UK it is not a 3G phone. This makes it incredibly slow for internet browsing and other online capabilities. Therefore, my advice is this. If you want a cool looking phone then go for the iphone - I have to admit I do love the user interface on it. However, if you want the latest top-notch phone that can pretty much do anything any smartphone can do at the moment then without a doubt I would go for the Nokia N95 8GB. Just remember to keep an eye out for the Nokia N96 later in the year and at some point phones that can capture HD!!!! Looking forward to that one.

How to reduce your phone cost

Now here comes the even more good news. You can even make money from signing a new contract. If you go through the greasypalm website first before you purchase the contract you can make up to another £18.75. Click here to see the details.

If you still don't like the idea of doing these cashback ideas (although hopefully you will after reading all this) just call your existing network and say that you are thinking of leaving to sign up to one of these deals. Chances are they will try to match it or come close to it.....anything to keep your custom. Believe me they are desperate to keep you. I spent 30 mins. one time listening to this customer advisor on the phone continuously try to improve an offer until I eventually said yes....and only because it was a good deal. SO DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ANY LONGER!
